Regulated rail fares in England will improve by as much as 5.9% from 5 March subsequent 12 months, the Division for Transport has introduced.
The rise is being imposed to assist “crucial investment and the financial stability” of the railway, the division mentioned.
Transport Secretary Mark Harper mentioned: “That is the biggest-ever authorities intervention in rail fares.
“I’m capping the rise well below inflation to help reduce the impact on passengers.”
