Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Sunday announced their 17-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against India. Temba Bavuma will continue to lead the squad with Keshav Maharaj being the vice-captain.
Wicket-keeper batter Quinton de Kock, who recently announced his retirement from Test cricket, has also been picked. Promising young seamer Marco Jansen has received his maiden call-up for the ODIs, but the hosts will miss the services of Anrich Nortje. The right-arm pacer continues his rehabilitation after being ruled out from the ongoing Test series due to a hip injury.
“This is a very exciting group and the Selection Panel and I are eager to see what they will produce,” CSA Convenor of Selectors, Victor Mpitsang said in his official statement.
“For many of our players, it does not get bigger than playing against this powerhouse Indian team and this will be the biggest series of their young lives so far. We are looking forward to seeing what they bring to the table and wish Temba (Bavuma) and Mark (Boucher) all the best for the series,” added Mpitsang.
