How far has prosumer cameras come since 2010? Pretty far I wager! The image quality we can get with the latest 2019 range of 4K cameras is simply amazing.

I love this channel because its tech but there are also lots of nice videos. Most tech channels only talk about gear and do some boring tests but never go out and film proper stuff. I'd love to see your work on a camera such as bmp4k
Are you sure the 550d is in focus? I shot this short movie in 2011 https://vimeo.com/27882235 with that camera and it's not that soft. Anyhow great thoughts… Thanks
I don't know if its the difference in 4k to hd but the difference in sharpness is astounding. I use a 500d and I don't think it's as bad as your 550 image quality but I do have the 50mm f1.4 on it. maybe the difference is the quality of the optic?
I am a British cameraman that has been working in Swedish broadcast for the last thirty years! We carry the latest tech on our shoulders constantly and on huge heavy tripods but many of my colleagues and myself love these smaller format cameras for our own person projects, many have GH5 and Sony cameras. Think very carefully before going up in scale again! Do you really want to carry V-mount batteries and carry heavier support gear and everything else that goes with such a format. I did a job at the end of last summer for the BBC here in Gothenburg! We were four cameramen with our camera assistants! We each had an Arri Alex mini with an assortment of high end PL lenses, Cartoni tripods and high hats, ND case, mattbox, cinema cart etc. It took me several weeks to recover from that intensive four day job. It was so physically demanding with all that gear I was happy getting back to my usual broadcast cameras. The whole time I was working with the Alexa it really made me appreciate just how great my Gh5 is.The time it took to set up one shot with that lovely ALEXA I would have taken ten differing shots with my GH5. My upgrade is probably going to be by adding the GH5s to my kit just for extreme low light and when I need a locked off sensor!🙏🏾
Nice video! I’d say the G7 and G85 are the best way to start! I currently own a GH5 but I started with a T3i, then a T5i. I went to the G7 then G85!
If you have a gimble go G7 but honestly I loved the G85 much better!
The CPU of the G85 is better and the autofocus is better and it has IBIS.
You don’t need a gimble with the G85. A cheap monopod or steady cam will do just fine.
would you say the sony is noticeable sharper than the gh5? or does it mostly depend on the lens you use… thanks for a answer:) great video btw
